In September a number of young people from our Intensive Mentoring programme, TalentMatch took part in a fantastic residential to work towards building young people’s confidence and team working skills. Young people took part in a number of team activities including ghyll scrambling, boating, orienteering and stargazing. Discussions were had about activities people could take part in and those with health conditions as well as those who didn’t want to take part were considered and alternatives provided. At all stages young people were encouraged to participate-supported by both mentors and their peers. The week was ended with a fantastic celebratory presentation. Young people were asked to nominate for various awards including most determined, most daring. The young people all said how much they enjoyed their time, how it had helped them and how it proved to them that determination was the key to getting them where they wanted to be.
