Brief description of role and duties: |
Volunteers are needed to help deliver the National Citizen Service for over 200 young people in Cheshire and Wirral. Youth Federation are working with National partners v, The National Youth Volunteering Charity and the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust (DKH), delivering NCS Teams in Chester, Ellesmere Port, Vale Royal, Congleton, Crewe, Macclesfield and Wirral. Each team of 15 young people will take part in a 6 week long programme of personal development incorporating 5 stages: Phase 1 Induction – This involves teams working on personal goal setting and orientation in community settings and involves team building games from Olympic Athletes from the DKH Trust. Phase 2 Activity Residential – The teams then attend outdoor activity centres away from home meeting other young people from around the country working together on personally and physically challenging courses. Phase 3 Community Residential – This takes place at a local residential centre and involves the teams undertaking taster volunteering work and receiving training in budgeting, event management and self confidence with support from local businesses as well as having lots of fun. Phase 4 Community Project Planning – Using local community bases the teams then work hard identifying local projects they could support putting their new skills directly into practice. Phase 5 Community Project & Graduation – Teams then work hard on projects which would benefit the local community. These could include; fundraising, landscaping areas which had become derelict, refurbishing local community centres and creating neighbourhood information boards for local residents. The young people then attend graduation celebrating their achievements awarding certificates for their successful completion of the course. volunteers are needed for one or all of the phases and they will support staff in the delivery. |
