What does our team do?

The Direct Delivery team aims to provide a holistic and coherent set of project activities that provide young people with the skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviours that will encourage a sense of empowerment. The Direct Delivery team consists of professionally qualified staff whose primary focus is dedicated to the personal development of young people. Central and integral to the provision of any project activity is the young people who will be the beneficiaries and the team actively seeks to demonstrate the empowerment of young people through their inclusion in the planning and decision making processes. The team has provided a variety of projects that are reflected on the following pages……

However these projects are not delivered in isolation. The Direct Delivery team’s youth workers have been working in partnership with several organisations including Connexions Greater Merseyside and Cheshire & Warrington, Cheshire Integrated Youth Services, Wirral’s Children and Young People’s Department, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Services, YFTL, Voluntary & Community organisations, affiliated groups, UK Youth, MYA, Schools and community groups.

During the Year 07-08, the Direct Delivery team consisted of 12 full time staff working with young people between the ages of 5 – 25.

The 5-13 age group were involved in project work that focused on participation and consultation projects,

The 13- 19 age group were involved in diversionary youth work and project work with youth clubs

The 13- 25 age group were involved in project work. These projects were primarily for disabled young people.

The team gave support to students on Placements from University of Chester and John Moores University as a part of their degree requirement. Feedback from course tutors has highlighted the positive experience that students gain through their involvement in the variety of diverse Youth Work Opportunities that Youth Federation’s Direct Delivery team provides.

The team has had opportunities for training and continuing personal development. These opportunities have include:
