Capacity Builders

Capacity Building support from Youth Federation can offer your group, volunteers and staff a wide range of support, training and advice around a variety of areas.  Our aim is to enable your group to deliver high quality services to children and young people and to help you develop your group for future sustainability.  We can offer affiliation to Youth Federation which gives additional support, links to other affiliated groups as well as preferential rates of insurance and CRB checks.

We will support your organisation’s project ideas. The support will include ensuring you have an up-to-date constitution, and all the relevant policies and procedures to help your organisation operate effectively and legally.  Support will also be given to ensure organisations are aware of the need to monitor their projects, and if needs be, introduce methods to help do this.

The Capacity Building team will help you to identify suitable funding opportunities, with the aim of securing funding for your project. Guidance will also be offered to empower you to identify funding sources yourself.  In addition to support with identifying sources of funding, we can also help you with the application process itself. This could include advice on structuring fundraising letters, or assistance with pre application research.

BASIS

BASIS funding is a grant stream that has been secured through the Big Lottery, (Building and Sustaining Infrastructure Services). The Federations’ BASIS bid has resulted in 5 year funding for Capacity Building Workers across the Youth Federation geographical area of Cheshire, Halton, Warrington and Wirral.

The ‘Quality Counts’ project will develop and further compliment Youth Federation's Capacity Building support programme helping voluntary youth sector groups access training, funding, guidance around governance and policy development.

In particular the capacity building support delivered through the BASIS project will enable groups to receive introductory youth work training, support in completing CRB checks, policy and procedure development and support in accessing funding for groups working with young people.

The Youth Federation has been delivering voluntary youth sector support for a number of years and has formed key partnerships with local authority youth services, connexions partnerships, colleges, the LSC and community and voluntary services (CVS). Youth Federation is also a member of UK Youth and National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS) and sits on a number of advisory boards across our constituted area to represent the voice of the voluntary youth sector.

This is an exciting time to work for the Federation and we are very positive about the potential impact our BASIS project can make for young people and the voluntary youth sector.
