Nominations are open for a National awards ceremony which recognises the incredible contributions of young volunteers.

Do you know a young volunteer doing great things in their community? Someone who gives up their time for others for free? Someone who is passionate about a cause and works tirelessly for the better? These are all things most volunteers do but often they don't get the recognition they deserve.

The vinspired national awards are here to change this! The vinspired national awards are all about recognising the extraordinary work of young volunteers aged 16-25 and giving these amazing volunteers from all across the country a big hand. Holly Shaw from the University of Chester was presented with the vInspired Shout Award in recognition of her prolific volunteering work. last year the awards took place at the indigo02, London where two Cheshire Volunteers attended the event after winning a Regional and National award. Speaking after the awards event, Holly said: “The ceremony was fabulous. There were lots of guest presenters including entrepreneur James Caan, pop star Tynchy Strider and England rugby player Lewis Moody.”

There are 8 award categories this year including the fresh award for the best new volunteer who has achieved great things in a short space of time, and the Legend Award given for the young volunteer who has shown outstanding leadership and made a real positive impact on their community. Next March will come alive with the 2010 vinspired national awards ceremony. Nominations are only open between July and September 2010. Everyone will need to complete an online nomination form.

If you know of anyone who deserves an award please enter them online at www.vinspired.com/nationalawards

v, The National Young Volunteers Service aims to inspire a new generation of volunteers (aged 16-25) in England. It does this by funding voluntary organisations all over England to create inspiring, diverse opportunities and by helping to overcome barriers that stop people from taking action to improve lives, communities and the planet. v’s aim is to create a culture where volunteering comes naturally and where the benefits of volunteering are understood and celebrated.

v is an independent charity launched in May 2006 as a result of the Russell Commission report, A National Framework for Youth Action and Engagement
