Earlier this summer, Rage Fitness teamed up with Youth Fed for the very first time to offer a 4-week NCS Programme. 7 Individuals from Blacon were sent to engage with a range of fantastic outdoor activities, workshops and community projects.
NCS is open to all 15 to 17-year-olds in England, bringing together young people from different backgrounds and helping them to develop greater confidence and build skills for work and life.
The course was split out into four phases: adventure, discovery, action and adventure. For the first phase, young people were offered the opportunity to stay at an outward-bound residential centre to engage in a number of outdoor activities such as high ropes, water sports, jacobs ladder, leap of faith and many more. Phase two included workshops and training to help build employability skills and advice on enhancing your CV.
The third phase was built around encouraging the young people to put their new skills into practice by creating a community project to benefit their local areas. This part of the project was rolled out over a total of 30 hours. The fourth and final phase of the programme was an evening of celebration for the young people, giving them a chance to dress up, recognise their achievements and receive their NCS certificate.
One of the participants of the programme commented: “I would really like to thank Rage Fitness Company for giving me this amazing opportunity, which otherwise wouldn’t have been presented to me or the community of Blacon. I have learnt so much about my strengths, my weakness and how to build a better me. I am very excited to be doing the NCS programme with Rage Fitness Company in 2020. Thank you again to all of the Rage Team!”
Craig Brown, CEO of Rage Fitness Company, said: “The NCS is a highly prestigious scheme which we’re honoured to be involved with. The programme was a great opportunity for young people to engage with a fabulous range of activities, which will not only be enjoyable but will challenge and inspire them to learn valuable new skills for the future. We look forward to continuing our work with both NCS and Youth Fed moving into 2020.”
