Earlier this year, Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) approached Youth Fed to ask if we’d be able to coordinate two 1-day events for young people, following the huge success of the Reach Up! Programme in 2018. Of course, it was a resounding ‘yes’ from us and we set our minds to putting together another fantastic youth programme for young people in the North West.
Our key objective of the day was to prepare young people aged between 16 and 25 for employment, with a particular focus on confidence building and interview techniques. The first of our events was held on Thursday 5th September at the Northgate Arena in Chester. The second was held on Tuesday 17th September at The Hive, Birkenhead.
We incorporated a number of fun and interactive team building exercises into the day, including a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style activity, in which the young people were given the opportunity to design a brand-new Coca-Cola drink. Some of the fantastic new ideas that were suggested included “Voove” (a vegan smoothie) and “Rebel: Without a Cause” (an energy drink).
A number of CCEP volunteers were present at both events in order to provide support and answer any questions throughout the day. They also gave a demonstration on Coca-Cola’s Perfect Serve.
One of the participants commented: “The staff at Youth Fed & Coca-Cola were very nice and friendly. The interview activity was particularly helpful.”
Chris Hindley, Chief Executive of Youth Fed, commented: “We are delighted to have teamed up with CCEP this summer to offer such a fantastic opportunity to young people in the North West. Following on from the overwhelming success of our Reach Up! event in 2018, we jumped at this opportunity and look forward to continuing to work with CCEP into the future.”
